Dallas Mavericks Tickets

From Dallas, Texas the Dallas Mavericks are the NBA franchise for Texas.  Also known as the Mavs, they are part of the western conference and southwest division of the NBA.  They were put together in 1980 and have one two division titles.  They have one in 2006 and another in 2008.  According to Forbes Magazine, “they are of seven of the greatest and most valuable franchises for basketball in the US.”  They are said to value around 466 Million dollars. The only teams that surpass their value are the Houston Rockets, Clevland Cavaliers, the Detroit Pistons, the Chicago Bulls, the Lost Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks. 

  Around 1979 some businessmen were looking to start a NBA franchise in the Dallas area.  The only other professional team in Dallas was the then called Dallas Chaparrals which were a part of the Basketball Association.  They later left in 1973 to San Antonio and later became the San Antonio Spurs.

  Later in the 1980’s the league owners all voted to admit this new team.  They gathered the name for the team from the popular western Maverick played by James Garner.
