Petty has been known to fight with his record company on many different occasions.  The first known is in 1976 about changing labels, following was in 1981 about the price their albums were sold.  They were said that the CD prices were high for the time period.  Petty has also been known to speak out against how the music industry is being run and also radio stations.  In one of Petty’s albums known as “The Last DJ” he sang about some of the issues going on and on one of the bonus DVD’s he also talked about these things.

Most of the time the band is united together on projects but they have also had times when they participated separately on different projects.  Petty has actually made solo albums himself, some of the most famous was in 1989, “Full Moon Fever”.

Although the band has not had a new album since 2002, the 3 beginning members, also with some of the other members have made an album by Mudcrutch.  That was the band’s first album.  Petty and the band have also announced their new album said to hit stores in Spring of 2010 called “Mojo”.
